Brian Wahl proudly calls Damak his second hometown. Brian lived in Damak for 2.5 years with his wife and small son and he quickly fell in love with the community. After meeting Bhesraj Neupane in September 2012, Brian found in Bhesraj a brother as well as a mission: to help support the development of Damak Public Library. He worked with the local and international community to promote financial and social support of the library, and with Bhesraj he helped bring to life the DPL Youth Team. Brian delivered motivational seminars at the library and helped organize events such as the first International Youth Day and the first World Book Day celebrations in Damak. In addition to being a champion of the library, Brian taught personal enrichment courses at Suryodaya Higher Secondary School, and he also volunteered his time to teach English to primary school children in the community through music, art and recycling projects. Brian now lives with his family in Egypt, but he returned to Damak for a visit in 2015 and looks forward to visiting his 2nd hometown often in the future.
